Meet The Team

PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR
Raye Yeow is a Dean’s Chair Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the National University of Singapore and a leading researcher in translational robotics, sensing, and AI. His lab develops human centered technologies that move beyond the laboratory into real clinical, industrial, and environmental impact, spanning soft rehabilitation robots, exosuits, hybrid robotic grippers, humanoid and swarm robotic systems, and emerging visuo tactile olfactory AI platforms. Backed by more than S$20.7 million in research funding, over 240 journal and conference publications, and a strong track record of commercialization through multiple startups, his work has helped advance robotics from fundamental innovation to globally deployed solutions in healthcare, worker safety, automation, and sustainability.
Research Fellows

Gokula Krishnan Ramachandran
Gokul is a certified data scientist and trained Biomedical Engineer, worked as a senior data scientist before joining EI lab as research fellow. He worked as a research fellow at Cancer science Institute of Singapore where he worked on pre-clinical drug development and developed clinical data collection procedures which includes dual metabolomics, human end-tidal breath collection etc., for disease diagnosis. He obtained his PhD., in Biomedical Engineering from National University of Singapore for his work on non-invasive diagnosis of gastric cancer and invention of a novel electronic nose platform. He is a IES young creator’s award winner and a recipient of IFBME Young investigator award. He had published more than 8 peer reviewed research articles and obtained two patents. Currently his research focus is on the development and deployment of olfactory sense on to robots.

Jonathan William Ambrose
Jonathan earned his PhD in EI lab. He earned his Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2019. His current research interest involves wearable soft robotics. In his free time Jonathan like to hit the gym and find new places to eat.
